What Is Talent Edge? Our Story

Talent Edge Recruiting started in 2022 as a solution for our parent company, TGG Management Co., and their clients, with one clear goal: to find the best accounting and finance talent in the market. But as we delivered results, something became clear – our approach resonated far beyond one industry or department.

Clients began turning to us to help solve broader hiring challenges. They valued our responsiveness, our deep understanding of talent, and the trust we built throughout every search. We listened, expanded our team, and by 2024, officially launched Talent Edge Recruiting as a full-service, standalone firm.

Today, we support clients across industries and job functions, offering Direct Hire, Temporary Staffing, Temp-to-Hire, and Offshore solutions. We’ve grown, but our focus has never shifted. Because in hiring, the right partner makes all the difference, we’re the edge you’ve been missing.

The Talent Edge Management Team

Matt Garrett

Matt Garrett is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TGG. For over 20 years he has focused his career on the development of small business, personal finance and advanced tax and compensation issues. As a serial entrepreneur, Matt has founded and sold a number of businesses. He started his first business in college while attending Vanderbilt University and built and sold a couple more after that time.  
Matt is a regular speaker across the country on behalf of Vistage educating business owners on the need for sound financial practices, and is Vice President of the Board of Directors of FINACA. Under Matt’s leadership, his previous company received the following recognition: INC. 5000 top companies in the U.S. five years in a row; one of “San Diego’s Fastest Growing Companies” the past four years; and is among San Diego’s “Best Places to Work.”

Laurel Swanson

Laurel Swanson is the Chief Operating Officer of TGG and Partner of Talent Edge Recruiting. Since joining the company as an assistant to the business owner, Laurel has progressed through the ranks, leveraging her operational expertise to manage a wide range of business functions. She has successfully overseen HR, IT, Legal, Learning and Development (TGG U), and the internal accounting department, playing a pivotal role in the company’s day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.

Laurel’s journey from an assistant to a leadership role is a testament to her commitment, resilience, and ability to deliver results. Her vested interest in the company, as demonstrated by her ownership stake, aligns personal and organizational success, contributing to the business’s ongoing growth and sustainability.

Robert Rodrigues

Bringing a background in executive management, internet marketing, and sales leadership, Robert Rodrigues has a proven track record of scaling revenue and profits for industry-leading organizations. He played a pivotal role in growing the employee base from a small team to over 150 employees with offices on both coasts. He is renowned for his creativity and data-driven approach to enhancing product offerings. He is inspired by the exceptional team and is passionate about helping business owners achieve their goals.

Andrew Ruff

Andrew served as Controller and Budget Officer in the Marine Corps and was responsible for annual operating budgets in excess of $125 million per year. As President and CFO of TGG and Partner of Talent Edge Recruiting, Andrew focuses on being the CFO internally as well as for his clients. Andrew also supports team members as one of the San Diego Managing Directors and oversees the operational aspects of the team.

Andrew enjoys his staff and the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with clients that withstand the test of time. Andrew and his staff get to know their clients on a personal level, so it’s rewarding to see them realize the goals they had set out to achieve. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys being outdoors, camping and backpacking.

Nicole O'Neill

Nicole brings a unique blend of sales expertise, operational acumen, and a passion for connecting exceptional talent with thriving businesses. A first-generation American and college graduate, Nicole’s journey is a testament to hard work, determination, and a passion for creating opportunities for others.

Nicole began her career straight out of college as a recruiter at a large staffing agency, where she quickly made her mark by being promoted into sales in less than a year. She also earned the prestigious “Contest” award, recognizing top-performing billers. These experiences shaped her ability to learn the ins and outs of recruiting and sales while understanding how to drive growth and deliver exceptional client service.

Nicole later joined a start up recruiting firm and played a pivotal role in scaling the company to a team of over 60 employees, driving operational excellence and leading by example with her own record-breaking billings. 

Nicole’s professional career has been defined by her love for sales, operations, and building businesses from the ground up. She joined Talent Edge Group (formerly TGG Recruiting) to channel her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for startups, combining strategic operations, innovative processes, and a people-first approach to deliver exceptional results. Under her leadership, the firm has become a trusted partner for clients seeking transformative talent solutions.
